Day 1
On day one we were faced with the challenge of drawing the people on our table in different media and different styles.
the first task was to draw the person opposite us with our eyes closed, this task enabled us to use our other senses such as touch to work out where the pen and the facial features were on the page.
the second drawing task was to draw the person diagonally to us with the pen in our mouth, this task proved difficult as it was hard to keep the pen in a fixed position, however the drawing looked like scribbles and was unsuccessful.
the third task was to draw with our weaker hand this proved rather easy due to the fact that I have done this task many time throughout my studies prior to this foundation course and using small squiggly lines helps control the direction of the pen.
the final task was to do a self portrait not lifting the pen off the paper, this provided a sense of fluidity to the drawing as a whole, something i hope to bring forward to my other drawings.
our next task was to draw our partners ear big in A1 and using the methods we learnt from the previous task, and once all ears were done in our class we took them to floor 4 and laid them out and had a group feedback session.
towards the end of the day we had to create faces out of magazines i approached this with the idea that i would create a face from many other faces, i started by cutting similar skin tones and placing them together to create the base of my face, next i cut out various facial features to see which ones would work well together. once the collage was made we had to create a viewfinder, and focus on one section of the collage and gten draw from it.
