Pathway evaluation.

Throughout the various pathways I was given a chance to learn new skills and take part in activities I wouldn't of been able to prior to attending this course.

on top of learning learning new skills I was able to develop old ones and when a task did not nessicarily meet my current skill set I was able to take it and make it lean towards my strengths.

However throughout the course I learnt that the key part was making sure each day had synergy and common theme flowed throughout each day and task, something I wouldn't of prior to attending all pathways.

On top of skill development this course enabled me to solidify my plans for my HE education something which was a key point to this foundation year however I didn't expect it to be done this early on.

if I were to take part in this rotation again I would approach it with a clear mind, I would make sure that nothing would be able to influence my work such as all ready knowing my end pathway choice; however I do feel that I approached the rotation to the best of my ability dispite the several incidents to of happened during it.

Fashion day 3

For day three we had to create a item of clothing which was to stay within our theme of the samples we created on day 1, I chose to do a headpiece made from origami hearts something which I have been using since the first task on day 1.

After creating the headpiece we were to embark on a catwalk to sow off our skills and what we had created during the day.

Once the catwalk was over we had the task to take images of someone in our piece on each floor of the building.

Fashion day 2

The first task on day 2 was to use the samples from yesterday and create clothing which didn't nessicarily go to the normal siloette of the body using a full body magazine image.

Once we had created at least 4 we then had to move on in creating a piece of clothing for the third day of learning, the planning method started with the image and like before we had to build on top of the flat magazine image to be realistic but also thinking outside the box.

I chose to focus on a head piece and for the final day of learning I will develop my plans into creating that piece.

Fashion day 1

The first task of the day was to create 5 samples,  these could be anything as long as the possibility of making a garment out of them was possible.

once these samples were made we had to make 20 large samples to then pair up with someone else and create clothing, however once we were paired up we then we had to rotate around and use other peoples materials to fulfill certain briefs which were Neck, Elegant, Archetecual, And two chances where we can make whatever we wished to.

Working with these briefs and the materials enabled me to be vigilant and quick thinking.

Lens based media - day 3

For day 3 we were to present the six images that we took in responce to the story boards in which we drew on the last taught lesson.

I chose to focus on the story of the villain on holiday who has to become good just for one day, all the prior work helped me develop a sense of a basic plot structure however beig restrained to only 6 shots proved difficult, if I were to approach this again I would make sure to rip back the bare bones of the plot even more to have a basic structure however if I were to have more shots I would be even more detailed in my work making sure that the story was explained in detail.

Lens based media day 2

Day 2

For day two we started by being placed into groups of four, and our first task was to draw 6 people that we have encountered before, and then six people who e haven't encountered before, once this was done we then had to draw six various locations which answered the questions we were being asked "what heaven would look like for you", "draw a place that makes you feel sad" and so on.

This was my groups result (mine are the bottom right):

After this task we had to work on character and the problems they would encounter in the "mystery world" that we would place them in, on top of that we had to build a narative and plan a story, working on each characters problems and how ultimately they would be resolved.

Once this was over we story boarded ontop of the character drawings we did, here is the result:

these story boards would be the starting point to day 3 tasks.

lens based media day 1

For day one we had to bring in a collection of 25 images which h ad important meaning and memories behind them, once we arrived we were faced with the task of drawing the picture in A1 and really trying ti capture the essence of the photo.

i chose a picture of this summer from mine and my boyfriends trip to brighton on our four year anniversary, the photo was taken in a Photo Booth and from the first year which we went out we have taken a photo in a Photo Booth to document that year.

once the image was drawn we had to crop the image to change the meaning, i focused on the eyes and the mouths to draw meaning onto other emotions.

from this task i learnt the importance of composition and the meanings which can be portrayed through the positioning of the subject.

Graphics Day 3

On day three the culmination of our planning to create a poster which was to promote a exhibition set 10 years from today and based around our life and what we had accomplished.

after various drafts i found that a basic minimalistic layout were best and having used samples of my work from my a levels and using them as actual work that i had done "int the future" it created a more realistic sense to my work.

here is my finished poster:

Graphics - Day 2

Day 2

for day two we were looking at the importance of font and type making, so we set ahead with undertaking several experiments which we would then take on to creating the full alphabet with.

the experiments which were most successful for me were the ones like dripping a wet piece of string across a paper and seeing which letters could e found out from doing it that way, after my various experiments i found a method which i preferred best out of the bunch of other eexpeiements, from this i
then went onto creating the rest of the alphabet in this method and also the numbers 0-9

After this task we went onto creating a a piece of work using one type of font and one word which best describes us and our future, i chose my surname as it is something which will represent my past, present and near future.

all of the methods learnt on day two i will take forward into the planning for my task for day 3

Graphics Day 1

Day 1

On day one we were faced with the challenge of drawing the people on our table in different media and different styles.

the first task was to draw the person opposite us with our eyes closed, this task enabled us to use our other senses such as touch to work out where the pen and the facial features were on the page.

the second drawing task was to draw the person diagonally to us with the pen in our mouth, this task proved difficult as it was hard to keep the pen in a fixed position, however the drawing looked like scribbles and was unsuccessful.

the third task was to draw with our weaker hand this proved rather easy due to the fact that I have done this task many time throughout my studies prior to this foundation course and using small squiggly lines helps control the direction of the pen.

the final task was to do a self portrait not lifting the pen off the paper, this provided a sense of fluidity to the drawing as a whole, something i hope to bring forward to my other drawings.

our next task was to draw our partners ear big in A1 and using the methods we learnt from the previous task, and once all ears were done in our class we took them to floor 4 and laid them out and had a group feedback session.

towards the end of the day we had to create faces out of magazines i approached this with the idea that i would create a face from many other faces, i started by cutting similar skin tones and placing them together to create the base of my face, next i cut out various facial features to see which ones would work well together. once the collage was made we had to create a viewfinder, and focus on one section of the collage and gten draw from it.
